This procedure will copy all the files on the
CD to a folder on your desktop to allow better performance for
slower computers. If you are an experienced computer user the steps
are simply to create a new folder, copy all the files on the CD, and
then paste them into your new folder. You can view the Guide simply
by double clicking on the folder and then double clicking the file
CD-Start.exe. What follows are detailed
instructions for novice computer users that maybe unsure how to copy
and paste files into folders.
Starting Point:
First ensure the Mowder Consulting CD is in your CD
Drive and close all other programs. You should have a blank
desktop to start this procedure.
Step 1:
Create an empty folder on your desktop
·
Right Click anywhere on your blank desktop and
select New from the pop up menu, and then left
click on Folder.
·
A new folder will be created on the desktop with its
default name ‘New Folder’ highlighted. Type
Mowder Consulting to rename the folder. If this does not
change the name, try right clicking on the New Folder
and left click on Rename and now type in the name of
the folder.
Step 2:
Copy the Files
·
Right Click on the Start button in the
lower left hand corner and left click on Explore in the pop
up menu.
·
Windows Explorer will open.
·
On the left side of the window, look for your
CD drive letter and left click on it. NOTE: In most cases
your CD Rom drive is the D drive. The name of our CD is
MowderConsulting, (with no space between Mowder and Consulting).
·
All the files on the CD will appear in the right
side the window.
·
Left Click once anywhere in the right side of the
Windows Explorer. (This is to give that side the ‘focus’.)
·
Press Control A to select all the files. This
means to press the Ctrl key located (to the left of the space
bar) and then press the A key at the same time.
·
All the files should be selected. That is all the
files on the right side of the window should be highlighted
·
Now Right Click on any one of the
highlighted files and then left click on the Copy
item in the pop up menu. This action will copy all the highlighted
files to the computers clipboard.
·
Close windows Explorer by clicking the X button in the
upper right hand corner of the screen.
·
You should see a blank desktop at this step
Step 3:
Paste the files
- Open the Mowder Consulting folder on your
desktop (created in the first step) by double clicking on it.
- A window will open showing the contents of
this folder. The folder will be empty.
- Right click anywhere in the window
and select Paste from the pop up menu.
- A progress bar will appear showing the
estimated time of completion
- That’s it! You do not need the CD any
longer and can view the Guide simply by double clicking on the
folder and then double clicking the file CD-Start.exe.
Enjoy!
